Reaching out is hard. When you’re looking to start therapy, it might feel confusing or stressful to figure out how to actually take that first step. From finding a therapist, paying for one, making time for your mental health, to opening up to someone new, the whole process can feel complex to navigate.
Anise takes the guesswork out of starting therapy. It’s simple to start and most importantly, find a therapist who makes you feel heard, understood, and supported.
Online Therapy in California
What are the benefits of online therapy?
It has flexible payment options (including insurance)
Providers like Anise Health offer different ways for you to pay. Mental health care should be accessible, so we have options to pay with your insurance.
Anise is unique in how we tailor your care, with plans that mix therapy and coaching to fit your needs. If you have an HSA or FSA plan, you can use it to pay for online therapy. Some employer benefits can also cover part of your care.
It fits your schedule
When you choose to do therapy online, you can find appointments that work for your routine. You don’t have to leave your office then drive or commute somewhere else to do your session. Between running errands, going to work, and maybe going to school (or taking kids to and from school), it can be hard to find time to do sessions.
Join wherever you are, as long as you have reliable internet and a device to call in. Online therapy is convenient and flexible, because finding support shouldn’t add stress to your life.
It’s easy to use
No sitting in traffic or finding parking. No need to sift through long directories of profiles, wondering if this person understands your story. No need to know any mental health terms.
Just answer a few quick questions, match with a therapist, and attend your first session online from wherever works best for you.
It’s secure and private
With Anise, you’ll meet your providers on a HIPAA-compliant platform. You just need to find a quiet space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts. Your information and what you share stays private.
It’s culturally-attuned
Sometimes, it can be hard to find a nearby therapist who truly gets what you’re going through. Online therapy means your care isn’t limited to options that are close to you. It’s easier to connect with a therapist who understands you: Anise trains clinicians about how to support Asian people. Our therapists and coaches incorporate your background, culture, and experiences into how we address your needs and goals.

What should I expect from online therapy?
Whether it’s your first time in therapy or you’ve done it before, it’s normal to have questions about starting.
Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy, especially for outpatient visits. Care that centers your needs means it’s easier to continue and actually experience results.
If you need a different level of care, we’ll let you know and make referrals where we can.
